What is a good life
I want to start with a question: What would you say on the deathbed? Would you regret your wasted time, unfulfilled dreams, or even unfinished conversations? Or would you know that you have used your lives to the fullest and you are fulfilled? Will people remember us as the „good” ones or as the people who only whined and wasted all the potential they had?
What does the word „good” mean in this article? I’m using this word to show you that everyone can interpret it very differently.
For some people around the world, living a „good” life means being wealthy, having a lot of money, a lot of material objects, or simply, for example, having a big garden. But will it matter when you’re repeating all the memories from your life before it ends? It is most unlikely.

Maybe you have a big garden, a lot of cars and money, and that’s cool. But, to my mind, this shouldn’t be the only source of happiness that you have. Most of the people who live that life are not really happy; they have everything that they want and they fulfilled their every dream. And that’s what most of the people want, so they should be happy, right? Material things won’t make you happy all your life – people around you will, and that’s what should matter.
People who are not billionaires are mostly happier than people who have money, who are spending it on material things. Those people have dreams that they follow, a friendship that makes them feel loved. Isn’t having a dream such a beautiful thing? You can wake up every day and think „one day closer to fulfilling my dream.” People who have already done everything they wanted thanks to mundane things got it „on a
platter”; they do not dream of doing something one day, because they have already done it, for example, with the help of money. You can save for your dream trip, which will make you enjoy it even more and you will remember it for a lifetime and that’s a beautiful feeling.
You will rememver the things that you’ve done with your family and friends all the time. But you won’t think of somethnig that you bought, the happiness from buying things is temporary.
Imagine recalling all the memories from your life and all you can see are the moments where you wished you did something, but you didin’t just because you were afraid or scared of judgement or being laughed at. We should live in the moment and not think about what others think. We have to make our life „good” for us, not for the people around us. To experience life is to open up to all the things that it has to offer for us, the beauty, the pain and the wonder. It’s laughing till your stomach hurts and you can’t breathe, crying when you need to and allowing yourself to feel deeply instead of holding back tears. Taking risks, chasing moments that make you come alive, and being present enough to notice the small miracles that surround you, the warmth of the sun, the sound of the morning birds, the quiet peace of simply breathing.
The things that you are doing right now, the choices that you made, are shaping the way you live your life. So think about what matters, because as Socrates said, ”You and only you have the power to make your life great and only you can evaluate its greatness. You also should be critical of your own life, don’t wait for someone to come along and save you. Try to save yourself!
